Refill policy

How to request a medication refill, how long it takes, and what’s needed to keep your prescriptions active.

Step one

How to request a refill

💊

1. Contact your pharmacy Fastest

The fastest and safest way to request a refill is to contact your pharmacy directly and ask them to send an electronic refill request to our office.

🔒

2. Or use the Secure Patient Portal

Alternatively, you may submit a request through the Secure Patient Portal. Please include your full name, medication name, dosage, and preferred pharmacy.

Not for emergencies: Refill requests are for routine needs only. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, severe distress, or dangerous withdrawal symptoms, please dial 911, call the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988, or go to the nearest emergency room.

Timing

Refill processing & turnaround times

🗓️

Plan ahead

Please request medication refills 3 to 5 business days before you run out of your medication.

⏰

Operating hours

Refill requests are processed Monday through Thursday between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Requests submitted after hours, on weekends, or on holidays will be reviewed on the next business day.

Staying on track

Appointments & lab requirements

🤝

Active treatment

Medications will only be prescribed to patients who are actively engaged in care. You must attend your scheduled follow-up appointments (typically every 30 to 90 days, depending on your treatment plan) to continue receiving prescriptions.

🧪

Required testing

Some psychiatric medications require routine lab work, EKGs, or vital sign checks. If these are required for your medication, they must be completed prior to your next refill.

🌉

Missed appointments

If you cancel or miss an appointment and run out of medication, your provider may grant a one-time, 7-to-14-day “bridge” prescription, but only if a follow-up appointment is actively scheduled.

Important

Controlled substances policy

📅

No early refills

By law and clinic policy, controlled substances (e.g., stimulants, benzodiazepines, certain sleep medications) cannot be refilled early. They will be refilled no sooner than 28 to 30 days from your last fill date.

🔐

Lost or stolen medications

Lost, misplaced, or accidentally destroyed controlled substances will not be replaced early under any circumstances. Stolen medications will only be evaluated for replacement if a formal police report is provided.

🏛️

State monitoring

Our providers are required to check the state Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) database before prescribing or refilling any controlled substances.
